One Hundred Days In, A Break

100 movies in 100 days! Whew! That sounds like a feat in and of itself, but alas, I'm only 40% of the way done. Even so, I'm really burned out. People warned me that this would happen, and I believed them but trucked on anyway. I guess you could say I've been defeated by the list. I'm not watching 250 movies in 250 days; instead, I'm watching 250 movies in, at minimum, 257 days. I'd like to think I earned it.

This reprieve does give me a chance to ask people for requests, though. I plan on coming back with Apocalypse Now on Monday and Oldboy on Tuesday, but if any readers shout out some other picks, I'll certainly take them into consideration!

Thanks for following the blog. You guys are the greatest. I'll talk to you in a week.

  1. You said you were going to watch Oldboy through streaming it on Netflix, and this probably isn't the case, but watch it elsewhere if they are streaming the dubbed version. It's pretty bad in this movie, and it really kills the performances. Don't settle for it. I'll let you borrow my copy, if that's the case.

  2. Wow, I definitely didn't expect it to be the dubbed version, but it is. Lame. Do you mind bringing that DVD to club next Monday? I'll shoot you a Facebook wall post in case you don't read this.

  3. Thanks! Reading your blog has been great. Partly because of your endeavors, I have been also encouraged to view the top IMDb 250 movies, but definitely not at the pace you are going at and trying to achieve: one movie per day! Incredible! How do you manage to keep up with your studies, watch a movie (which is probably on average around 2 hours long) and write great and in-depth posts?!? As a college student myself, I know how much school takes. I don't know what else you have to do, or if you work or anything, but you seem to manage to juggle everything pretty well. That takes a lot of talent :-). I look forward to reading more!

  4. Congratulations :) And its great that you will come back with 2 good movies (actually Oldboy is even Great in my opinion, and I love the vibe Apocalypse Now takes - it is just so much different from any other war movie).
You have deserved the break :D

  5. I just checked, I have seen 131 from the top 250 movies and currently watching Yojimbo.
I watch about 3 movies a week though, and some aren't from imdb list, but I am not really in a rush to complete the list :)

  6. Thank you for the kind words, and I'm sorry for not commenting back sooner!

Leslie, I do it by not sleeping nearly as much as I should, to put it simply! I do my classes, work out, do this blog, work for the student newspaper as a web editor, and between those things, sleep and eat a little bit. I might be doubling up on several days over Christmas break so I can keep my 250 Day pace, per a suggestion from my old editor at the paper here at IU. Thank you for reading the blog, too! That makes all this work worth it for me.

Guntars, I absolutely loved Apocalypse Now, not to spoil anything. It may be my favorite war film (if Inglourious Basterds and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly are "war films," then it's only my third favorite). I plan to watch Oldboy on Monday, and you'll know very soon how I feel about it. :D

  7. Also, Leslie, apropos of nothing, where do you go to school?

  8. Wow, I simply couldn't do all of that in one day! It seems like each day's worth of activity is over 24 hours for you. The school I attend is UT Austin. What about you, which school do you go to?

  9. Indiana University - Bloomington. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, though.

That's cool that you go to UT, one of my best friends is from Austin and I've been meaning to go down there some time.
